Description
Since 1978, Subtidal Adventures has been the leader in adventure, whale and scenic tours in Barkley Sound. Most of our summer trips go to the Broken Group Islands, which is part of Pacific Rim National Park. The wildlife we commonly see includes Gray and sometimes Humpback or Orca whales, Sea Lions, Seals, Sea Otter, numerous Sea Birds and Eagles. Cruising at a relaxed pace, our cosy 12 metre “DIXIE IV” is a converted Coast Guard rescue boat with warm and comfortable indoor seating or open deck viewing. Our fast and fun, eight metre, “DISCOVERY”, is an open, zodiac style, rigid-hull inflatable. Passengers on the Discovery are provided with overall float-suits for warmth and safety. The exciting and innovative boat tours we offer include: Broken Group Islands Whale/Nature Tour, Islands and Whales Tour, Gray Whale Adventure, Zodiac/Kayak Day Trip, Cast-Away Island Adventure, winter Sunset Cruise, and the Perfect Storm Cruise. Please visit our web site. Marine mammal watching has always been an important part of the experience on our tours. Our aim is to minimize the risk of disturbance by respectfully observing while allowing these animals to carry on with their natural and essential activities: feeding, resting, travelling, or reproduction. Remember, it is a privilege to visit their home. Join us on one of our adventures. Enjoy the boat ride, our amazing scenery, and abundant wildlife. We are surrounded by a unique marine ecosystem full of surprises; so be observant! You never know what you will see on any given day.
